As the International Day of Peace is observed around the world each year on September 21st, Grenoble Ecole de Management (GEM) takes the opportunity to announce the first Economic Peace Trophies, an event that will be organized on May 14th, 2019 in Grenoble.

Ranked amongst the best French Business Schools, GEM has led the way in societal issues. The School set up a unique research center on "Economic Peace, Mindfulness and Well-Being at Work", over 6 years ago.

According to Professor Dominique Steiler, Research Center's Director: "We have to make changes so as to not head for disaster. The globalization of goods and services as well as the domination of financial capitalism are provoking dangerous consequences for our planet, individuals and businesses in today's hypercompetitive environment. Faced with such alarming observations, peace economics promote a key principle: the aims of a business are success and sustainability through reinforcing the social structure, in order to contribute to the well-being of all."

the aims of a business are success and sustainability through reinforcing the social structure, in order to contribute to the well-being of all

Today, this approach is a reality for a number of businesses, which conduct projects that support the fulfilment of individuals, changes in management styles and the inclusion of all stakeholders. The Peace Economic Trophies are designed to reward those that experiment with the change in paradigm and contribute to this positive revolution.

Loïck Roche, Dean and Director of GEM, explains: "As a higher education institution, we must train tomorrow's managers by raising awareness of this revolutionary new mindset. The Peace Economic Trophies, a first-of-its-kind international event, will highlight the pioneering investment made by businesses, associations, public and private organizations."

A multidisciplinary panel of judges including leading figures from the economic, political, media, institutional and cultural circles (Delphine Ernote, President of France TV; Edgar Morin, sociologist/ philosopher; Eric Piolle, Mayor of Grenoble; Bernard Miyet, former United Nations Under-Secretary-General; Alexandre Jardin, writer and movie director…) will select the laureates. 9 Trophies will be awarded, in three main categories. Over 500 participants are expected to attend the event on May 14th, 2019 at Grenoble’s MC2.
