After qualifying as a lawyer in London I started working in the financial sector where I stayed for nearly 10 years. Through most of that time I was a compliance (read: ethics) officer for large financial institutions, lastly head of compliance for HSBC Private Banking EMEA.

In 1998 I wrote The Handbook of Compliance – Making Ethics Work in Financial Services (Financial Times Prentice Hall) and graduated with an MBA from London Business School. I have spent the last 13 years researching and writing on business responsibility issues for trade journals, think tanks and consultancies.

These last three years I have been writing a book on the financialization of capitalism, and pursuing a further graduate studies in philosophy.
