"All Erasmus students should travel while they have the chance!"
I have really enjoyed my year abroad in Grenoble. Grenoble itself is small enough which makes it really easy to get around. Across the river is the Italian Quarter, with a great range of restaurants! Also, on the streets opposite, an antique market is held 4 times a year which is really good!
In the 2nd semester, we went skiing many times. I hadn’t skied much before but after a while I got the hang of it! My favourite place to go skiing was called Les Deux Alpes, a huge resort with great views and great slopes in the mountains. I would definitely recommend giving skiing or snowboarding a go. Most resorts offer some type of lessons so it is worth trying!
Another great feat about Grenoble is its geographical location. It allows for a lot of travelling, something all Erasmus students should do while they have the chance. A friend and I travelled to Barcelona for 5 days during holidays we had in October. It was a great trip, and I really enjoyed visiting the city, especially the Spanish food!
If you are interested in climbing mountains, Grenoble is surrounded by them! My friends and I enjoyed hiking up La Bastille, a fortress on a hill above Grenoble. On a clear day you can see Mt Blanc from the top!
Finally, the student associations play a big part in student life. They organise many events which is a great way to meet new people. "Le Gala", a big formal dance put on at the school, with DJs, different themes for each room, and red carpets! It was a great night and good chance to get dressed up!
