Gautam Jain: student experience

India

"Travel. Learn. Compete. Win"

Studying in Grenoble has been an enriching experience! I have discovered different places, met new people and understood different cultures. My academic goal is not to miss even a single class while balancing it with my travel goal to visit at least 5 different countries in these 4 months!

Our class comprises of international students ranging from countries all over the world. It’s also very interesting to learn about other cultures apart from my own. It is a humbling experience when we as individuals find the commonalities in such diversities.

The teachers at the University are experts in their domains, similar to the professors at my home university. They unite everyone in class and focus a lot on ‘Peer to peer learning’.

Other than academic goals, I think a typical Indian student has dreamt of going on a road trip in Europe! Five of us drove down to Barcelona for several nights. It was definitely an experience I will never forget! Barcelona Football Club has a huge reputation in India. So it was great to visit the football stadium, Camp Nou. A huge advantage at GEM is the fixed time table which gives me enough opportunity to plan my work and weekend escapades.

I have also enjoyed the French food here but have found several high quality Indian restaurants. We are never away from Indian food with Paneer Butter Masala and Tandoori Roti at our favourite Indian Punjabi Restaurant.

I would advise all who come to Grenoble to take advantage of its central location in Europe and make good use of an immense learning opportunity at the university.
