Paul GAFFNEY has more than 20 years experience of Product Management with a number of leading retailers such as C & A, The Burton Group, Sears Plc and Storehouse, where he has worked as buyer, marketing manager, controller and buying and merchandising director. For seven years Paul was academic chair of the Business and Retail Management field at Oxford Brookes University, responsible for the academic direction and administration of the Retail Management degrees and for the Diploma in Logistics (CIoLT). For the past five years Paul has been the Programme Director for the MSc in Business and Enterprise and the MSc in Innovation Creativity and Enterprise at Oxford Brookes Business School for which he managed the development and launch. Paul relinquished responsibilty for those programmes in September 2008 and took over as the Programme Director for the MSc in Marketing, the MSc in eMarketing, the MSc in International Trade and Logistics and the new specialist MSc in Advanced marketing Strategy. Paul also runs courses in Marketing (MBA full time and Executive modes), Buying and Merchandising and Supply Chain Management. Paul was a Chief Examiner for the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply for the Retail Merchandise Management Graduate Diploma course and was Senior Assessor for the Supply Chain Management in Practice Graduate Diploma course. Since 2007 Paul has taught the MBA Marketing Management and International Marketing courses for the Ecole de Management Grenoble MBA programme. Paul has in the past led the MBA course in Global Marketing Strategy at Birmingham University Business School, and was the external examiner for MBA courses in Advanced Management, Current Issues in Management, Marketing and Strategic Marketing at Loughborough University Business School. In addition to his academic work Paul has also provided in-company training and consultancy on Merchandise Management for prominent retail organisations and has run successful residential and in-company courses for the Chartered Institute of Marketing in Profitable Product Management and Effective Retail Merchandising. In January 2008 Paul was appointed Head of MSc Programmes for Oxford Brookes University Business School.
